The Slipshot is conceived as a single Shotgun doubled and shifted so that the resulting double Shotgun is comprised of two plans slipped past one another. The two volumes are then connected by a single gallery running along the length of the adjacent edges. This strategy resolves the lack of cross-ventilation in the traditional double Shotgun, while creating the prospect of clear private and public zones both inside and outside. The forward volume becomes a free plan box that is entirely open save a kitchen, half bath, and storage core. The rearward volume houses bedrooms, bathrooms, storage, and utility spaces. Both volumes open to a private patio framed by the bedroom wing to the north and the public wing to the west or east, depending on orientation
