Cashiers, North Carolina, 1999

A beekeeper, required two structures – one for the purpose of processing and storing honey from her (4) beehives; the other to act as a single vehicle carport and sometimes outdoor work area. The HoneyHouse was conceived as a single work space, a utilitarian container with steel storage units, a work counter with processing equipment, and shelving for display. Its primary architectural feature is a steel plate and angled glass wall, oriented to the southeast. The wall is articulated as a deep surface that provides filtered light into the workspace and is used as shelving for the storage and organized display of honey.
